Holodecks are devices that can create a scene in SL at the push of a button. Great for setting up stages with different scenes, learning environments where you need to change he scene around the students quickly, etc. Very useful of your land and/or prim space is limited!

Troy McConaghy has created an open-source Holo-emitter, available at

He calls it that because it is capable of creating more than just a room, as most holodecks are limited to.
